Last night’s engagement session with these two beautiful souls was breathtaking in more ways than one!!!
In the late afternoon, we made our way up to the Ashburton Lakes and had the most magical evening hanging out in this majestic landscape. I had been up there a couple of days earlier, location scouting not long after heavy rain on the West Coast, and combine this with snow melt; there was plenty of water about with mini rivers gouging out the side of the road and surface flooding. It was my second trip up to this magic spot; about four weeks earlier, Ryan and I headed away for a Sunday drive but didn’t take much notice of the road closure sign at Mt Somers and had to turn back just before the shingle.
But every time I’ve ventured up into the high country, I’ve just sensed this will be the perfect spot for Asta and Brad’s engagement session; the soft glowy grasses, rugged earthy tones topped off with a dusting of snow make my heart melt with possibilities. Brad’s only hope was we were heading to a location that showcased the New Zealand landscape to its best, and I think we did that and more. I loved it when he instantly saw a connection between the Scottish highlands; from then on, I knew he would love taking in the view.
Asta is a kiwi girl who met her man Brad in the Uk on her OE. They and their two gorgeous girls are visiting family from the UK and are tying the knot very soon, and I can’t wait for their special day; I know it’s just going to be epic. Asta has such a beautiful eye for detail, and their outfits were so on point!
As our time together ended, in typical kiwi fashion, the rain drops started to fall on a very chilly late winter’s day in the high country, but when we left our time together, I didn’t want things to end! I’m thrilled to share some of my FAVOURITES from our session.
